Create a hollow pipe by setting inside and outside diameters.

Place a bay within the pipe.

Move the bay up to match the pipe’s inside surface. Use Start Node for larger increments, then Base Node Elevation for fine tuning.

Add planking to the bottom level of the bay, and Side Brackets to reach the walls of the pipe.

Change Screw Jacks to Swivel Screw Jacks.

Add a Ladder and Bays along the length of the pipe.

How to Create a Scaffold with Buttress

Buttresses are used to provide support to act against lateral (sideways) forces.

In Scaffold Designer 2015, you can create a buttress by adding vertical bracing to the top level of adjacent bays.

 

Next to any scaffold tower or run, place an adjacent bay or bays.

Remove planking (If desired) from the top level of the adjacent bay.

Uncheck “Planked”

(Guardrails and Toeboards will be removed automatically).

 

Add Vertical Braces to the sides of the top level of the adjacent bay.

Click on the 3D View Model tab to see the top vertical bracing.

NOTE: By default, top vertical braces will not display in the Conceptual tab. If you wish to see the top bracing in the Conceptual tab, see the “Tips and Tricks” section below.

Display top vertical bracing for both sides of the bay.

Notice that only one of the top vertical braces displays. This is because, by default, the bracing direction is opposite for opposite sides of the same bay. To display the other brace, just change the brace direction for that side of the bay.

Tips and Tricks

If you want the top braces to display in the Conceptual tab, extend the vertical standards on the side of the adjacent bay next to the scaffold tower or run.

This will not affect the material count in the BOM.

Beam Tips and Tricks

  1. Request your Beam and Ply import materials from Avontus here ( sales@avontus.com ).
  2. Material Master can be edited with your stock beam lengths and sizes.
  3. Custom properties can be edited to allow for different clamps and clips as required.
  4. Stringer and Beam configurations available by changing the Base Node Elevation in Bay Details.
  5. Double Plywood decks can be configured by adding the depth of plywood sheet to Base Node Elevation of plywood bay detail, on a new plywood bay.
  6. Custom guard reail height can be achieved with ‘Collapsed Connector Bays’.
